The Corona Virus has finally reached Florida. It’s not the time to panic- it’s the time to take stock of your own health & hygiene habits and take sensible precautions. Here are some tips direct from the CDC to stay healthy.

Stock-up on supplies

If an outbreak of Covid-19 happens in your community, it may be necessary to stay home for a long period of time. You will need to stock up on the important supplies, such as medications, over-the-counter medicines, shelf-safe foods and home necessities (like dog/cat food, cleaning supplies and essentials.)

Take everyday precautions

Avoiding sick people, washing your hands often, using hand sanitizer and avoiding touching your face are simple precautions one should take regardless, but especially now that outbreaks are possible.

Keep away from others who are sick

This may not be possible for everyone since many people still go to work sick, still travel and visit friends sick and don’t cancel parties. If you encounter a sick person, take extra precautions to wash up and avoid contact.

Avoid crowds

Especially avoid crowds in poorly ventilated areas.

Avoid travel

We know that planning that big trip was a huge decision, but limiting or avoiding travel altogether is likely a good idea, especially to outbreak areas. If you absolutely must travel, pay special attention to the above precautions.

Stay home as much as possible

Now’s a great time for a staycation! Play some video games, read that book you’ve been wanting to read, or just reconnect with a family game night. Staying home can get old, but it’s better than getting sick.

Ultimately, stay safe, take precautions and don’t panic.
